Randy Hurless, Vice President, Technical Services, Fujifilm North America Corporation – Business Innovation Division
Leadership Viewpoint
Last month I celebrated 27 years at Fujifilm, I don’t just see a career—I see a journey through a book filled with purpose, challenges, and continuous growth with many chapters still to come.
From starting as a technical dispatcher to leading our Technical Services teams as Vice President, every role I’ve held at Fujifilm revealed new pages of how premier technology and exceptional service intersect to create value for our customers. Early in my career, one of my senior leaders told me, “If I didn’t trust you to make decisions, I wouldn’t have promoted you.” That freedom to lead, make decisions, and take ownership shaped how I approach leadership to this day — empowering teams and trusting their expertise.
Yet, success is never fully realized without a culture rooted in truly collaborative teamwork. We must unite around a supportive, can-do attitude—not only in our interactions with customers but also with each other. That’s why Fujifilm’s Technical Services team embraces three service culture pillars that define what we want our customers to say about Fujifilm and its people:
These pillars don’t just define our identity; they guide every decision we make, creating tangible benefits—improved efficiency, increased loyalty, and elevating the customer experience.
Leading this team is a true privilege. What drives me most is witnessing the relentless dedication and passion of my colleagues. Whether staying late into the night to guarantee a seamless installation or going the extra mile—quite literally—by driving across state lines to deliver a critical part and keep a customer’s production on track, their commitment never ceases to inspire me. And we welcome constructive feedback as valuable opportunities to learn and grow. One of my talents is to solve complicated issues and challenges. Turning challenges into lessons is what strengthens us as a team and fuels our mission to be relentlessly customer-focused.
Industry Perspective
The printing industry is evolving fast. What excites me most is leveraging technology—not just to keep pace, but to lead innovation that reshapes how we serve our customers. Over the next 5 years, I’m confident that Fujifilm’s Business Innovation Division will drive forward-thinking solutions that redefine customer engagement and unlock new value streams to excite the printing industry and our collective customers. We are already well on our way making differentiation through exceptional service and innovation paramount. Helping customers build lasting loyalty with their end users by providing unmatched service excellence and value-creating technologies has been one of our key disruptions to the marketplace.
Personal insights
Outside of work, composing music has been a big part of my life. I was mostly self-taught, learning to play piano at age 5, which eventually led me to compose music through college and even the wedding music for my wife Melissa. Cooking, particularly gourmet cuisine, allows me to channel creativity and precision in new ways. Running clears my mind and sparks fresh ideas, while golf offers treasured time with family. Whether at work or in my personal life, I’m motivated daily by the belief that new idea creation, persistence, and doing your work to satisfy others, can truly make for a successful life and new chapters for Fujifilm and the customers we serve.
